Oh man do I love a good 4th of July party, and my father-in-law throws the BEST ones! We grill out around the pool, have lots of yummy drinks, and shoot and watch fireworks on the beach in my favorite town, Ocean Springs. I can’t wait!!
I’ve been planning this outfit since Memorial Day. Don’t judge me. Lets dissect it, shall we?
Mirrored Ray-Ban Aviators
Is there even a question about these being a 4th of July essential? They’re so Top Gun, which is so American.
American Flag Swim Top
This top is so flattering. It has that sports bra looking cut, so I feel like it would look good one anyone. Not to mention, it’s REALLY comfortable, and I don’t have to worry about any wardrobe malfunctions. Get my drift?
High Waisted Bottoms
These bottoms are super comfortable too, and they give you a super cute pin-up look. Again, what’s more American than pin-ups?
Round Beach Towel
Have you guys seen these everywhere?? I NEED ONE! My house is seriously low on beach towels. I’ve been stealing them from my parent’s house. I’ve gotten away with a grand total of 2. Time to break down and get this bad boy.
I bought this romper because it was super cute and comfy. I didn’t originally intend for it to be a cover up until I got home and realized you can see through the whole thing. However, it is THE BEST cover up I have ever owned.
I go nowhere without my Birkenstocks. They’re the first item on the “Becoming a Hippy” checklist.
Sea Salt Spray
Perfect for when you want a hair style but you don’t actually want to style it.
I’m trying out The Honest Company’s sunscreen. So far, so good. Remember you should wear it EVERY DAY.
There ya have it! My 4th of July outfit is laid out and read to go!
What are your plans? Cute outfit? Let me know!
P.S. You can shop the look below, now!
If you wear makeup and you haven’t heard of NYX, then you might want to crawl out from under your rock and pay attention!
I love NYX. They create quality cosmetics that are not tested on animals and are great quality for the price. However, as you might have guessed, the Soft Matte Lip Creams are my absolute FAVORITE.
I’m just not a fan of glossy lips. Sorry. Not sorry. It’s just too much for me. I used to not even be a fan of lipstick at all until I came across these little gems. They stay on forever and look darn good while doing it. I’m obsessed. Let me show you my favorite colors.
The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream goes on so easily, too. Although, I do suggest exfoliating your lips first. I have a designated tooth brush just for lip exfoliation. I even put on some chapstick first to keep it from drying out. You know you’ve had that dry lip, soaked in lipstick look before, and it’s not cute.
Come to think of it, I use a bunch of NYX products….
Just thought I’d share my latest obsession with y’all. What are your thoughts on matte lipsticks? Let me know!
P.S. This is not a sponsored post. I’m just in love.
Most of y’all know how much we LOVE Ocean Springs. The husband is from this quaint little town, and we visit every chance we get. We are so thankful that we get to come down (almost) as often as we want, and we hope to someday it home again.
Wondering the streets of downtown OS is one of our favorite things to do. Since we are pretty much experts on all the restaurants and watering holes around town, I thought I’d do a post on some of our favorites. I definitely suggest stopping by these places on your next trip to the Gulf Coast. You will not be disappointed.
As soon as you wake up, RUN, don’t walk, to The Greenhouse on Porter for one of their iced coffees. Locals call it crack. It’s extra caffeinated and extra delicious. Not to mention, this is the coolest little spot with tons of community involvement. It’s in a little greenhouse they converted into this hippy little hangout. They’re homemade biscuits are melt in your mouth delicious, and their specials change every day. They have every type of tea you can imagine or you can grab a beer. They host fun yoga classes and bike rides around town. They have lots of local art around, and at night, they always have some kind of live music. LOVE IT.
You just think you’ve had a good donut before. I understand. I thought I had too until I visited The Tatonut Donut Shop. I then proceeded to laugh at every Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, Donut Palace, and Shipley’s I had ever had. They pride themselves on being “the only real donut,” and GOOD GRACIOUS they’re right. They’re different because they are made with potato flour, and their is ALWAYS a line outside the door. Don’t worry, though! It moves fast and is TOTALLY worth it. Just make sure you get their before the SOLD OUT sign is on the door. My personal faves–blueberry cake and plain old glaze
I don’t even know how to describe Phoenicia Gourmet. Brunch is what we usually go for, but the food is fantastic any time of the day. It has a Greek vibe, but features other types of food as well. B.Y.O. Champagne for mimosas at brunch or enjoy a Lebanese coffee.
Sushi is not just sushi at Chef Scott’s. The rolls are so unique and SO YUMMY. They are legit works of art. Snow to the Coast Roll, Being of the Dragon Roll, and the 2nd Signature Roll are some popular favorites, but I’ve never heard anyone say they got a roll they didn’t like. This place has been a long time favorite date spot of ours.
Pick a cake–any cake–and you cannot go wrong at French Kiss Pastries. The strawberry bavarian cream is a family favorite, but I love the carrot cake and chocolate mousse even more. You can order a big one for an event, or pick up a personal size one any time of the day. Their other pastries are incredible too. Nick has a hard time passing up a cannoli or cream cheese danish, and I can’t get enough of their pistachio macarons. Their iced coffees are delish, too. I may or may not have had a soy/sugar-free vanilla one this afternoon. It’s the perfect pick me up!
Enjoy a toasty sandwich at Bayview Gourmet for lunch. They’re breakfast is wonderful too, though. They have lots of unique options for both. We love to bring the dog and sit on the deck outside. Especially when the farmer’s market is across the street.
Get a blackberry margarita THE MOMENT you sit down at Maison de Lu. Linger on the back patio for lunch. Mosey up to the bar at happy hour, and have their fabulous mixologist create a drink for you. Then, enjoy a romantic date night when the sun goes down. You just can’t go wrong at this place. My favorite time we’ve been was after a Mardi Gras parade. SO MUCH FUN. Just go.
Last, but certainly not least, get a wood fire pizza at Leo’s, and then enjoy the night life that surrounds this place. It’s always hopping and always a good time. This was the very first restaurant I visited in Ocean Springs the first time I came with the husband. It holds a special place in my heart. The atmosphere is really great, too. Pictures of old Hollywood celebrities hang on the wall, and the pizzas are named after them all. Nick’s favorite–the Bob Marley pizza.
Ocean Springs is just the best. We love it so much, and always leave having gained AT LEAST 5 pounds. Haha! Maybe moving here isn’t such a good idea for my waist line?
Have you visited any of these places? What are your faves? Let me know!

**Edit: Some of the foods I have posted about are not vegan, and they do no longer fit into my diet. However, I have enjoyed the things listed in the past and would recommend them to anyone not following a vegan diet. Furthermore, I have found new items at each place that do meet my dietary restrictions.**

Easter dresses are big deal in the south. As a little girl, I remember shopping for one every year with my mom and getting my new pair of white sandals for the year. Easter Sunday is when everyone below the Mason-Dixon line dresses in their “Sunday best.” It’s fun get dressed up and show off your pretty, new, Spring-y dress!
I found some really great dresses that are made for women with curves, cute, AND inexpensive! (The Palm Leaf Romper is on sale for $12.99!) Which dress is your favorite? I may even have to branch out and wear a color other than black, navy, or gray!
Spring is in full effect, officially! Except it’s in the low 50s today in Mississippi. #bipolarweather I’m dreaming of the beach, margaritas, and the smell of sunscreen.
Do you have your outfit ready for Easter Sunday? I’m such a procrastinator.
Anyway, HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING!
When TickPick contacted me about doing a game day outfit post, I knew I had to accept. If you know anything about my house and my husband, you know the only thing that exists from August-February is football–especially NFL. It consumes our television and our life most of the year, and we love it.
Sadly, our Bengal’s season has come to an end, but here’s what a game day out fit looks like for me. Since we’re like the only Cincinnati fans in Mississippi and are without NFL network, we usually have to go to a restaurant to watch them game. My orange Michael Kors coat is perfect for when it gets cold out. (I realize it looks more red in these photos. 🙁 Bummer.)
// I just couldn’t edit out photographer husband and in his Bengal shorts //
TickPick is a no-fee marketplace that is changing the industry. They are growing rapidly because of their cheaper ticket prices, amazing buyer experience, and a novel approach to the secondary ticket market. They even guarantee that your tickets are not only authentic and will arrive in plenty of time before your event, but also promise to work with you to replace your tickets with ones of equal or better quality in case of an emergency. I’m not sure of any competitor that would do that.
They don’t just supply NFL tickets and other game day tickets, but they have concert tickets and any other kind of tickets too! I’m so excited to use TickPick for my every ticket need from now on.
And that’s what game day looks like if we get the treat of watching the game from home. The puppies are heavily involved.
Here’s hoping the Broncos win the Super Bowl this year, and NOT the Patriots.
ANYWAY! Get your tickets from TickPick, and you won’t be disappointed.
